The Center for Security Studies (KEMEA), the Hellenic Police, and KMOP, as partners of the “ERADICATING II – Enhancing pRevention AnD multI-agenCy cooperAtion against labour TraffickING” Consortium, co-organized three specialized trainings in Greece. These trainings aimed to equip and empower 150 frontline professionals to identify, investigate, and solve cases of human trafficking, with a particular focus on forms related to labor exploitation.
The trainings took place:
- In Athens on May 9, 2025, at KEMEA headquarters (96 Mesogeion Avenue)
- In Thessaloniki on May 14, 2025, at the amphitheater of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki
- In Alexandroupolis on May 21, 2025, at ASTIR EGNATIA | GRECOTEL HOTELS & RESORTS
Participants included representatives from key stakeholder organizations and services relevant to the project’s mission, such as members of the Hellenic Police, Prosecutor’s Offices, Labor Inspection Services, Financial Intelligence Units, and Civil Society organizations.
The training sessions utilized tailored and specially designed educational materials to strengthen participants’ capabilities and improve the services provided for the detection, identification, protection, and referral of trafficking victims for appropriate care and support. Special emphasis was placed on the urgent needs of Ukrainian refugees, who are at heightened risk of falling victim to trafficking as they flee their country.
Over the long term, the project aims to foster transnational cooperation among law enforcement authorities through joint investigations and cross-border referral mechanisms, as well as to ensure the timely identification, prevention, protection, and prosecution of human trafficking cases.
A three-day Master Exercise Simulation is scheduled to take place in Greece in October 2025, aiming to promote international cooperation among authorities and organizations in identifying and addressing human trafficking, particularly with a focus on labor exploitation.
